~PLEASE LEARN MORE ABOUT MARY AT THE BOTTOM OF PAGE~Made exclusively for my store, these are made with a flourishing, feminine feel & are definite conversation earrings just like any of Mary's other wonderfully designed pieces!
Everything incorporated in the design is cut by the hands of Mary, who then carefully mosaic inlays these hand cut forms to create works of art! After slicing her materials, she then uses her signature Conus shell that creates the swirly flourishing look they have. The white flower technique is fairly new to her & are done where she puts 'grooved slices" in the material & then when she goes to cut it (Like a loaf of uncut bread),it creates a flower!! How cool is that?? Irregular cuts of bright blue Kingman turquoise accents the bottom. Everything is inlaid atop of a black jet backing.
We started having these made with a thinner depth so they're not as heavy as they use to be..(Weights Below) She puts a Omega Post style back on these to also help with the balance.
**IN THE LAST PHOTO IS A NECKLACE I HAVE IN MY LISTINGS,THAT IF YOU LIKE,YOU CAN USE AS A SET!**

**I am not a professional photographer, but I do try to do my best at giving you accuracy in color..Sometimes however, colors can vary, either lighter or darker, depending on settings, either on your end or mine..
To give you close ups, items tend to look much more larger & 10 X's more magnified than in actuality.Close up's make the item look so large & then you get the item in hand & you are shocked since they are much smaller than imagined. So to get a accurate idea of how big these are, please get a tape measure & compare to my given measurements.
If you find the item is not as great as I think it is,it does not mean the item is 'not as described'!

ABOUT MARY TAFOYA:
Kewa Pueblo artist "Mary Tafoya's" takes Pueblo jewelry to a whole new level! She has a 'signature style all her own & is the only one from the Pueblo that you will find doing this style,so much so that she doesn't even need to hallmark her pieces, you just know who did the piece! She is known for her funky, whimsical 'Folk Art" style colorful jewelry,so much that as of this year, she was featured at out International Folk Art Festival here in Santa Fe! It was the 1st time a local pueblo artist was featured there & she greatly deserved being there, along with the other folk art artisans from around the world!!That event captured the people of PBS who focused solely on this one artist & later featured her on their TV show.(Google the episode)
Most don't know that when she 1st started doing jewelry back in the 80's, she stayed very traditional, since her influence were her parents, as well as what other Pueblo artisans were doing in the village. Her parents made heishi & did mosaic & were one of the originals who did the old depression era "Thunderbird" necklaces that were mosaic inlaid atop of old record albums. But step ahead to the 90's,is when her husband Lorenzo suggested 'they try something 'different'..This is when she solely did mosaic, which later she developed into the mosaic style she is now so widely known for.
Her pieces are "Happy" & you will get joy & feel good when you wear her jewelry!
She only creates only when her spirit, having a clear mind, her hands & all other creative juices are in sync..Once you see her art,you will never forget it,since it's a style that belongs to only her. You can find her in Museums, galleries worldwide & is HIGHLY collectible.
