A LITTLE ABOUT MARY:
Made exclusively for Plata de Santa Fe Jewelry,these artistically made earrings are made by the hands of one of  the Kewa Pueblo's most sought after artisans "Mary Tafoya"..Mary is an artist like no other you will EVER find & once you see her work,you will be able to recognize whose work it is thereafter!  While other artisans at the Pueblo are doing heishi beads,Mary steps it up a notch & takes her work in a totally different direction that's identifiable to only her.. Staying traditional to her Anasazi ancestry,Mary has taken this ancient art of mosaic,by taking a more Funky,contemporary 21st approach,while staying very traditional in technique. .
Her jewelry has a heavy "Folk Art" feel,so much so, that for the 1st time she was asked to participate at our yearly "Santa Fe Folk Art Market" a few years back,when PBS just happened to be there...Out of 100's of participating artists, PBS honed in  on only one artist & that was Mary! They were so impressed by this amazing artist that they did a show on her! You need to see this!!!

DESCRIPTION:
Mosaic inlaid with a multi colorful array of various colored stones & shells that Mary cuts & shapes by hand.The cuts are then tastefully placed atop of a black jet backing. Emulating a "Pueblo Maiden" are 1/2 moon shaped cuts of shimmery MOP that acts as the Maiden's elaborate headdress,with her face being designed with  a pressed Purple Spiny Oyster mixture,& chips of Gaspeite,Turquoise,Jasper.Below are a colorful array of vertically laid stick like cuts of various materials & square cuts going down her center.. They are made in a post that has a omega spring back for the ear.(see last photos)
All of Mary's earrings are One-of-a-Kind.Being the epitome of a true artist & like any artist,it's hard for her to duplicate the design! So you will be the only one with these earrings!
**These do have a thickness,which adds to their weight, so for some they can be too weighty of a earring to wear,so what I suggest is getting a product I carry called

" .
